Joel McLafferty, MA MBA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Joel McLafferty is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder and Executive Director of the Westmont Counseling Center. He previously worked for several community mental health clinics, including Open Paths Counseling Center where he was the Clinical Director.  He is an Adjunct Professor at Antioch University Los Angeles and has served as President of the Group Psychotherapy Association of Los Angeles.

Oyira Akwa

Administrator

Oyira, in addition to her warm presence, brings a wealth of experience in communication management and administration to WCC.  She directs the day to day operation and is responsible for WCC's friendly work atmosphere.

Cheráe Stovall, MA

Associate Professional Clinical Counselor

Cheráe Stovall is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. Cheráe graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a dual Masters degree in Community Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. She has over a decade of experience working with adolescents and emerging adults. She specializes in Solution Focused Therapy and Trauma Informed Therapy. Her life passion is serving and advocating for those in underserved communities.

Divinity Sardin, MSW

Associate Social Worker

Divinity earned her Master’s degree in Social Welfare from UCLA. She assists children, youth, emerging adults, and families overcome challenges and develop important life skills. Divinity helps each client achieve personal goals, build upon their strengths, and improve their quality of life. 

Eunice Fuentes, MA

Associate Professional Clinical Counselor

Eunice Fuentes is a Spanish speaking Associate Professional Clinical Counselor and graduated from Loyola Marymount with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. She has been actively involved in the South Central, Inglewood, and Lennox communities for over a decade. Eunice has experience working with children, teenagers, adults and couples. She is dedicated and focused on helping you feel empowered and guiding you through a positive path to grow and well-being.

Flor Ramos-Montelongo, MSW

Associate Social Worker

Flor Ramos-Montelongo, ASW, is fluent in Spanish. She has experience working with families, children, teens and adults. She understands the impact of trauma and is skilled at treating its symptoms. She is open minded, appreciates every client for who they are and helps clients use their own strengths to heal and grow.

Jason Murray, MSW

Associate Social Worker

Jason received his Master of Social Work from Clark Atlanta University. He has extensive experience working with clients who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety and relationship problems. He also works with victims and perpetrators of gang violence. Jason uses the Ecological Perspective along with Trauma Informed Care to encourage growth, healing and goal attainment.

Kala Patterson, MBA MSW

Associate Clinical Social Worker

Kala Patterson received her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California.  She has experience working with clients struggling with relationships, depression, anxiety, abuse, trauma and codependency. She supports clients using a strength-based approach to help them grow, heal and become more resilient. She incorporates Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based and Trauma Informed Therapies in her work.

Priscilla Hefley, MSW

Associate Social Worker

Priscilla Hefley received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. During her tenure as a children’s social worker, Priscilla has partnered with families as they have: overcome systemic barriers, built upon their inherent strengths, and restored their dignity and stability through the exploration of trauma. Priscilla is committed to seeing her clients achieve their mental health goals.

Victor Gabriel, MA

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist 

Victor Gabriel is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and is a resident and has been working in the South Central, Compton and Watts communities for several years. He specializes in trauma, survivors of sexual assault, children and teens, depression and anxiety and also has experience with couples.
